Vortex Bowl

My first attempt at a vortex segmented turning. Bowl is 8” in diameter and about 2-1/4” deep. Segments are black walnut and hard maple, finish is 5 coats of wipe-on poly.

The blank was a spiral disk, comprised of segments cut on the bandsaw, then parted into rings that are stacked and turned. The design, and the jig used to cut the segments, were inspired by Gary Asher, ThePapa1947 on Youtube ( https://youtu.be/sodQISh5DDs ).
The biggest problem with any segmented piece where the sharpe points meet in the middle is the difficulty of getting the alignment perfect but you to have exceeded that of the videos you referenced.
That is a major accomplishment.
