14.5"x.75", Black Walnut, Maple
The platter was turned and the handles were carved from maple and walnut laminated stock then inserted.
I retained the rectangular handles shape to contrast with the round platter but I'm not sure if it was the right choice. It may have been better to...
My first gallery submission here. Hopefully I'll get it right. This is a 15" wide by 7" tall bowl that had a bad crack and my wife volunteered to carve it into nothingness. I think she did darned well, but would like to read your thoughts too.
Make with Walnut and wicker. I was looking for a way to make large pieces with small pieces of wood. The answer was to add wicker. The lid made up of the a ring around the middle, the finial and the wicker between the two. This piece is 18" tall.
