I don't know that I've ever turned any sycamore but that sure is pretty. There's lots of it around here and I just got a sawmill so I can see some 1/4 sawn sycamore in my future.

The outside I was giving my new optima burner and a coil pen a workout. Learning curve there but this will work for a first try as just an embellishment.

Looks to me almost like you got bit by hidden ring shake.Since there isn’t (yet) a thread for “What Was on your Lathe,” I’ll have to put this here, although it’s now in the trash. The cause: a weak spot in the vessel wall. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
